Key Responsibilities
- Serve as lead copy editor on multiple brands and backup on other brands
- Copyedit, fact-check, and proofread a variety of promotional and educational materials directed at physicians, other healthcare professionals, and patients from manuscript stage through print or digital production
- Work closely with Account Services, copywriters, art directors, and other team members to ensure that print and digital materials are of the highest quality in terms of accuracy, utility, clarity, readability, and appeal
- Enforce PEP editorial standards using approved resources
- Create and maintain custom editorial style guides for assigned brands
- Flag possible compliance issues as they arise
- Keep current on industry practices and regulatory requirements that affect medical content and copy
- Manage freelance editors
- Actively integrates with brand teams across assignments
- Develops and demonstrates in-depth knowledge and continually maintains/strengthens understanding of brands and scientific therapeutic backgrounds
- Provides effective editorial and proofreading input and maintains editorial quality control on an ongoing basis
- 3+ years’ experience in an editorial capacity at a pharmaceutical company or healthcare communications agency or in a related life science field
- Skills:
- Excellent spelling and grammar
- Excellent communication skills
- Computer program skills: MS Office Suite (particularly PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with the AMA Manual of Style, Dorland’s Medical Dictionary, and medical/pharma terminology
- Educational background: bachelor’s or master’s degree
- Core competencies: attention to detail, flexibility, teamwork, thoroughness
