Maintain active clinical practice/clinical coverage in assigned area of specialist
Participate in departmental, hospital, or multidisciplinary committees
Constantly review JCIA standards and updates and ensure that policies and procedures are updated and implemented to reflect new requirements
Develop strategic and operational plan for assigned area
Constantly review/assess workload and operation requirements for optimal productivity. Identify opportunities for Performance Improvement (PI)
Maintain strict control over distribution and usage of government controlled products such as narcotics and barbiturates
Work closely with Quality Improvement personnel in an effort to improve the quality of service provided by the department.
Coordinate pharmacy activities with medical and nursing staff to facilitate a smooth continuity of care. Ensure that medical and nursing staff is aware of assistance that can be given by the Pharmacy.
Actively participate in automation projects (e.g. Pycis) and coordinate/monitor transition
Monitor the performance and guide the professional staff in assigned area. Direct daily staff activities. Plan for efficient operations
Ensure that staff assignment and schedule meet acceptable level and needs
Ensure staff orientation and training. Observe and monitor staff performance and ensures that established standards are met. Conduct performance appraisals in accordance with hospital standards.
Prepare and manage the pharmacy budget in the assigned section in collaboration with the Head of the assigned section
Review policies and procedures and recommend revisions as required. Ensure that policies are procedures are observed, and that work meets all prescribed safety procedures and acceptable professional standards
Discuss PI plans and projects with the Head of the assigned section
Conduct and record staff meetings on a regular basis
Prepare required reports in a timely manner
Participate in self and other’s professional development
Follow all hospital related policies and procedures
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy
Master Degree in Pharmacy
Or
Doctor of Pharmacy (Non North American approved program) from an accredited college of Pharmacy
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from a North American accredited program
Experience Required:
Holders of Bachelor Degree: Ten (10) years of experience in hospital pharmacy/relevant retail experience with at least four (4) years in a leadership role/position
Holders of Master’s Degree/PharmD (non North American approved program): Eight (8) years of experience in hospital pharmacy/relevant experience with at least two (2) years in a leadership role/position
Holders of North American accredited PharmD program (non North American accredited PharmD with completion of residency program)/Master’s Degree: Six (6) years of experience in hospital pharmacy/relevant retail experiance with at least two (2) years in leadership role/position
