Description
Responsibilities
Develop discovery biology and preclinical development strategies
Identify targets and design novel therapeutics, shepherding development candidates into the IND process
Initiate and drive discovery programs for oncologic indications
Provide scientific oversight of ongoing programs ensuring robust processes are in place to generate candidate leads with robust efficacy and safety profiles that warrant preclinical and clinical development
Oversee nonclinical pharmacokinetics and toxicology
Recruit and develop talent within the group
Lead internal discovery and development teams as necessary
Collaborate with Clinical Development and other relevant stakeholders on abstracts and publications
Support Corporate Development as required
Qualifications
Ph.D. or MD with 10+ years of industry experience with an expertise/background in oncology and/or immunology
Demonstrated expertise in discovery, target identification, screening, lead identification, and product advancement.
Ability to maintain a professional relationship with therapeutic area opinion leaders worldwide; discussing scientific / research approaches for study design, data interpretation, and implications to clinical development programs
Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to drive programs from conception through the early development process in a pharmaceutical biotech setting
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate cross-functionally and drive the progress of the multidisciplinary team
