Seeking a visionary Division Head to provide clinical and academic leadership to the Division of Endocrinology. It is an exciting time for this Division, as it is currently undergoing a significant transformation to enhance its clinical care and academic mandates to better serve the acute and chronic patient populations being cared for across the province. There is a growing academic focus of excellence on Quality Improvement. The Division is currently comprised of academic and clinical UBC faculty, trainees, and staff and includes both full-time and part-time hospital-based endocrinologists (6.75 FTE), academic faculty based at the Research Institute, as well as five clinical faculty members within the community.

The Division provides inpatient clinical teaching, endocrine consultation services, and multidisciplinary outpatient clinics/programs including the Diabetes Clinic, Diabetes Day Program, Endocrinology Clinic, Gender Clinic, and the Medical Day Unit and Medical Investigation Units for outpatient therapies and testing. The Division provides leadership across the province to support care coordination and best clinical practices through Child Health BC, a provincial network supporting prevention and clinical care for children and youth that includes outreach clinics and telemedicine services.

The successful candidate for the Division Head position will have demonstrated a history of strong leadership as well as a commitment to academic, research, and clinical excellence in Pediatric Endocrinology over several years. With a broad scope of clinical experience, they will be dedicated to providing the highest quality clinical service, with a focus on continuous improvement, and academic and research excellence. The successful candidate will work collaboratively to develop a unified vision for the Division of Endocrinology that supports and enhances the current environment of transformation. They will actively work alongside the program manager partner to spearhead a culture of teamwork and collaboration among Division members including clinical and academic faculty members, trainees, nurses, allied health and support staff, and will promote patient safety, quality improvement and patient- and family-centered care. They will also work to strengthen connections with the Research Institute, with the aim of advancing discovery and translational research in pediatric diabetes and endocrinology. Clinical, academic, and/or research leadership experience and training are considered essential.

The candidate will have passed or be eligible for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada examinations in Pediatrics or comparable qualifications, and will have completed a recognized training program in Pediatric Endocrinology. The successful candidate will be appointed as a Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor in Pediatrics, commensurate with qualifications and experience as set forth by the guidelines for Pediatric Clinical Faculty Appointment at UBC Faculty of Medicine. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
