Professional Experience:

Miami Cancer Institute- Baptist Health Care System, Miami, FL

Radiation Oncology from 4/2017 to present.

Physician Assistant employed by a large oncology practice based in the radiation therapy department at MCI. Work with mainly 2 supervising Physicians in the clinical aspect of patients receiving radiation therapy. Responsibilities include performing history and physical exams on consultation, managing side effects from radiation oncology, and seeing all follow up patients; the latter to perform independently on many occasions; order and interpret laboratory data as well as radiographic images and implement changes accordingly. Coordinate procedures and plan of care with pertinent staff. Member of the rapid response team.

Mount Sinai Medical Center, Miami Beach FL

Gastroenterology PA-C from 9/2014 to 3/2017.

Physician Assistant to 4 Gastroenterologists. Performed initial consults for the inpatient service and made tentative diagnosis and decision about management and treatment of patients. Most of the consults were associated with gastrointestinal cancer, gastrointestinal bleeding, and GI emergencies. Ordered and interpreted laboratory data, radiographic images and implemented changes accordingly. Coordinated procedures and plan of care with Attending Physician and pertinent staff. Read and interpreted Pill cam studies.

Portofino Pediatrics- Dr. Nivia Vazquez

Pediatric PA-C from 7/2014 to 9/2014.

Evaluated patients ranged from new born to 21 year-old, and was responsible for a load of 25-30 patients per day. Most of patient base was Spanish speaking only. Interviewed patients and/or parents, reviewed medical histories and performed physical exams. Used an appropriate in-house diagnostic tests (rapid strep, mono spot, CBC, spirometer, and dipstick UA) to help obtain a diagnosis and gave an appropriate treatment regimen with counseling to the patients and their families in an easily comprehensible manner. Performed well child care exams, assessed developmental milestones, ordered necessary routine blood tests and administered required vaccines.

Made tentative diagnosis and decision about management and treatment of patients. Ordered diagnostic studies and able to interpret CT scans, MRI, ultrasounds. Performed paracentesis under ultrasound guidance with indirect supervision. Performed direct admission on patients with decompensated cirrhosis, GI/liver malignancies or other oncology patients requiring interventional radiology service. Performed discharge summaries. Educated patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens.

Orthopedic PA-C 11/2010 to 03/2011

Physician Assistant to 2 Orthopedic Surgeons in a diverse practice. Hospital responsibilities consisted of surgical first assist, inpatient rounds, dictating discharge summaries and evaluating consultations. In office responsibilities, consisted of performing routing orthopedic procedures, preparing initial consults, monitoring patients undergoing physical therapy, screening medical clearances, calls backs when patient called with concerns. Included in-call rotation with others Physician Assistants.
