Skills

There are innumerous things in the world, which affect our lives on a routine basis - either directly or indirectly. Some of them create problems, some creative solutions. I am passionate to share such solutions to some of the issues that a human being faces in his or her lifetime. I strongly envision that as the world changes rapidly one also must evolve and equip himself for the betterment of society. This is the main driving force for me to pursue further studies.

The flare of defining myself as a top pharmaceutical professional began after my graduation. In the quest of exploring my professional expertise, I took up several activities like underwent a workshop course on “Experimentation in Toxicology and Microbiology” from APT Research Foundation, Pune, a pre-clinical drug testing center and a Contract Research Organization; took part in a one-day National Seminar on “NANO- New Perspective in Drug Delivery System” and did present a poster on \\\'Unfolding the impact of nanoparticles in combating multidrug resistance in tuberculosis\\\'; analyzed a survey on \\\'Awareness of use of Emergency Contraceptive Pill\\\'; written an article on \\\'Exploratory studies on health care economics in India\\\' for Panache 16-17, a magazine by the Indian Pharmaceutical Association State Forum, Maharashtra State Branch; successfully obtained an elite certification on online course work on “Health Research Fundamentals” by ICMR and National Institute of Epidemiology. With this, I understood my competency and further worked towards entering a new phase of post-graduating in Pharmacology and Toxicology from National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research- Ahmedabad.

Under the esteemed mentorship of Dr. Pallab Bhattacharya, I was very fortunate to learn the basic essence of research in an institute of National Importance. My time during the institute as a researcher rejuvenated a new sense of freshness and fulfillment to my personality along with a newly developed research aptitude. With the guidance of my mentor, my senior research scholar, and my colleagues, I horned the necessary surgical skillset for ischemic stroke model in rodents, the biochemical assay for detecting apoptotic and protective markers, performing neurobehavioral tests, performing immunohistochemistry and molecular techniques like Western Blotting for protein level evaluation. During the entire course, I also had imbibed transferrable skillsets like team-work, adaptive, tenacity, and discipline. Over time, I also had written review articles in the field of Neuroscience entitled as “Evolving Evidence of Calreticulin as a Pharmacological Target in Neurological Disorders “,” Interplay between Mitophagy and Inflammasomes in Neurological Disorder“and “Endoplasmic reticulum–mitochondria crosstalk: from junction to function across neurological disorders”“, which were published in established journals like ACS Chemical Neuroscience and Annals of New York Academy of Sciences respectively . Fortunately, I was also amongst the National finalist of BioCamp2018 from amongst 1500+ students from various backgrounds which were conducted by Novartis in Hyderabad in 2018. To sum it up, with the guiding light of my mentor, support of my parents to empower my dream and with a strong backing of my seniors and colleagues, I feel I could be able to contribute more to the pharmaceutical sector. Now after my Master\\\'s i feel its the right time for me to set my foot in the Industry and make value addition to it.

Refrences

Since i am a fresher i have worked upon a project during my post-graduation entitled as "Targeting the interplay of calreticulin and calcineurin by stem cell therapy in ischemic stroke". Ischemic stroke characterized by perturbed cascade of events like glutamate excitotoxicity, aggregation of misfolded protein, Ca2 imbalances and oxidative stress which makes the disorder fatal for patients. Currently, stroke ranks the 2nd leading cause of death worldwide and only FDA approved treatment currently available are tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) along with thrombectomy. Hence due to many shortcoming and limited armamentarium, there is a dire need of alternative therapy that can salvage the dying neurons and ultimately enhance patient’s quality of life. The objective of my study was to understand how Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSC) helps in overcoming the neuronal insult by modulating levels of calreticulin and calcineurin that would help in neuronal survival
