Responsibilities
The testing of raw materials, finished goods and in-process samples
Able to train and develop department employees on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work instructions, General Methods, Policies and cGMP in accordance with ICH, FDA and MCC guidelines.
Carry out gap analyses of QC employees as part of PDP (Personnel Development Plans) and monitor Key Performance Areas
Ability to carry out investigations and must have good trouble shooting skills
Maintenance of GLP and audit readiness in the Laboratory
Ability to operate higher laboratory instrumentation (HPLC, GC, IR, UV-Spec, TGA etc) and critically evaluate date

Very good organizational and record keeping skills
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Good communication skills (Written and verbal) as well as accurate report writing and document reviewing abilities
Willing to word after hours, overtime and shifts if and when required
Motivated, positive and work well in a team
Minimum Matric/Grade 12 with a Formal Tertiary Qualification in Chemistry National Diploma or BTech or BSc Degree or an Equivalent Qualification as per the National Qualification Framework (NQF) SAQA would be considered.
Minimum 7 years practical experience in a Pharmaceutical Laboratory
Thorough knowledge and understanding of cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) and quality control requirements pertaining to the manufacture of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). Knowledge of international regulations governing the manufacture of APIs.
Must have knowledge of the API Testing Environment and the policies and Procedures involved.
Must be computer literate and able to use various operating systems software programs i.e. Chromeleon
Good knowledge of Analytical Chemistry
