Summary Of Essential Job Duties
Medicine pharmacists at VMC provide both clinical and distributive services to patients. Responsibilities include complete pharmaceutical care including participation on daily rounds (service- and unit-based models), pharmacokinetics, therapeutic drug optimization, prevention of adverse events, cost-effective medication use, critical assessment of all new medication orders, order verification, provision of drug information to physicians and nurses, and education and assessment of learners – medical/pharmacy students and residents. Participation in departmental activities, teaching opportunities, and professional development are also required.

Minimum Requirements
- College degree plus other schooling. B.S. or PharmD in pharmacy is required
- Must be Licensed in North Carolina prior to start date or within 30 days of hire
- Maintains active NC pharmacy license and provides proof of renewal prior to December 31 annually
- BLS is required within 30 days of hire
Preferred Requirements
- Hospital experience is preferred
- PGY1 residency and/or PGY2 residency experience preferred
