Overall Purpose Of The Role This is a fast-paced commercial role. You’ll be expected to set up meetings with existing and potential customers. You’ll listen to customer needs and then work with engineers and proposals specialist to create quotations of automation solutions. You’ll need to then convince customers to choose your solution versus our competitors. After winning an order, you’ll ensure your customers receive excellent service by following up on orders and ensuring timely delivery through our supply chain. You’ll keep abreast of rapidly emerging Industry 4.0 and other technologies and you’ll act as an adviser and partner to customers as you help them implement these new technologies to change their business models. You will drive specification and implementation of your product range by working closely with end users, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) companies, Engineering, Procurement Construction (EPC) companies and system integrators. What will be my responsibilities in this role? The most critical job tasks and areas of accountability for the position are:
  • Put customers first and help them solve their challenges
  • Strategic planning for commercial and marketing activities
  • Customer and opportunity prospecting followed by deal closing
  • Accountability for the performance of orders and sales for the Sub-Saharan Africa region
  • Account planning and tactical execution
  • Interacting with marketing, product managers, engineers and supply chain to provide feedback on market, or customer, needs and dynamics
  • Partner with our global marketing team and industry managers to execute local activities
  • Salesforce.com CRM based orders forecasting
Qualifications What must I have to be considered for this role? To be considered for this role, you should have a minimum qualification of a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering , although, a Bachelor of Technology ( BTech) / Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred. In addition, you should have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a sales role, or in a leadership role within a small business, ideally within the industrial automation industry where you would have gained knowledge of discrete and hybrid automation systems. This would include technologies such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), Variable Speed Drives (VSD’s), Safety SystemsOperator InterfacesHMI/SCADA software and cloud/EDGE technologies. Sales experience in similar industries may be considered especially if you have been exposed to information and operations technology, electrical, industrial or manufacturing software, manufacturing Execution System (MES) and management Information Systems (MIS), cloud computing, mechatronics, robotics, instrumentation or OEM equipment. Language Capabilities Strong communication skills in English, both verbally and written are required and additional languages such as French or Portuguese would be highly desirable. Preferred Qualifications Safety Control Systems certifications, or qualifications Sales Methodology training (e.g. Miller Heiman, etc.) Competencies

  • Ensure effective leadership in HSE, leading by example and setting the direction for a successful health and safety program and creating a foundation for a positive safety culture.
