Who You'll Work With You’ll work with our Pharmaceutical and Medical Products (PMP) Intelligence team, and will be located in Chicago or New York. McKinsey’s PMP Practice anchors around a portfolio of advanced analytics offerings that blend objective third-party data, client context, and McKinsey intellectual property. The PMP Intelligence team builds and operates tools that support senior executives in pharma and device manufacturers, for whom evidence-based decision-making and competitive intelligence are paramount. In close partnership with McKinsey’s traditional client service teams (CSTs), the PMP Practice works directly with clients across the core functions of Research & Development (R&D); Operations; Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR); Brand and Product Management; and Commercial Operations to build and scale analytical approaches to addressing their most persistent priorities. The offerings are informed both by McKinsey’s longstanding client relationships and deep experience in the most successful PMP players, as well as by the data science, product development, and next-generation research methods of newer partners and senior leaders. McKinsey has several thousand dedicated technology professionals (including more than 800 analysts and data scientists) and we continue to hire more world-class mathematicians, data scientists, designers, software engineers, product managers, client development managers and general managers. What You'll Do You will lead the definition of the product portfolio for each PMP sub-domain. You'll do this by conducting an inventory of existing assets in the cell and their relevance moving forward (grow, support, kill) and you will identify white spaces where new products are needed and define a product roadmap for the next 1-3 years. You will also lead the Product Development capability, integrating existing asset engineering teams into a cell engineering capability, streamlining support where needed and defining a sustainable engineering strategy through the use of internal and external resources. As the Head of Product and Development, you will lead the efforts to translate the cell vision into a product strategy, define product roadmaps and drive execution of product builds. You will deliver transformative digital products for our clients and will play an important role in designing and deliver solutions that solve business problems and capture opportunities in liaison with PMP Leadership, including the Head of Data. In this role you will dynamically lead partners and product teams, focusing on innovation, growth and success with an entrepreneurial spirit. The Head of Product will also ensure PMP’s technology vision & priorities are continuously aligned with our overall Client Capabilities technology vision and will report into both the Cell Asset Leader and the CTO. You will also be responsible for partnering with the Cell Asset Leader to shape and refine the cell’s technology and product vision and assist in shaping an overall “build / buy / partner” strategy through performing competitive intelligence, understanding white-spaces, and managing the “inventory” and pipeline of cell’s assets. Specifically, you will drive product priorities, build estimates and prioritize team assignments. You will actively oversee multiple assets to collaborate and deliver high-end solutions, take responsibility for effectively cross prioritizing portfolio needs, and be comfortable with making difficult decisions that might have implications for other stakeholders. You will also drive and build of a technology team, partnering with McKinsey’s centralized Technology team, to build and maintain cell products long term, identifying key skills needed within the cell and working with Tech to obtain the best mix of cell / central resources to deliver long term product viability. You will drive product feedback cycles with clients and Client Service Teams (CST’s), prioritizing early feedback on new products from end users and ensuring a continuous feedback loop from clients and CSTs into product roadmaps that will remain continuously and highly attuned to client needs. In this role you will also be responsible for operational and security SLAs, in partnership with Technology Operations and Firm Infosec, with a focus of building products for operational sustainability and continuously drive relationships and contract terms with key external technology partners (including working with Alliances & Acquisitions where relevant). Lastly, you will proactively expand and strengthen a portfolio of trust-based relationships with clients, CST leaders and practice leaders, and serve as a thought leader and trusted business advisor to senior management and various stakeholders in helping them improve the performance of their teams.
